I first came to Darien about 2 years ago. Upon arrival, my herniated disc prevented me from almost all physical activity besides walking. I was told by doctors that surgery was the only way to fix the problem.

Surgery was never an option in my eyes and through the deep intense muscular work at Studio Darien, I was able to heal myself. Her understanding of the body, the intricacies that create each movement we make is incredible - it moves me to think how she has changed my perception of movement and health by closely watching, instructing and correcting me. She has given me back the freedom of a healthy spine supported by strong muscles and a deep awareness of my body, breath and intention of movement.

It is an honor to be a student of Darien's - her passion and diligence are contagious. I walk into class ready to work hard and am in a constant process of progress and translating Pilates into my daily life: sitting, standing and walking.
